About StitchMath
StitchMath is an independent project built by leatherworkers who got tired of digging through forum threads and video comments to answer simple questions: what stitch pitch is this, how much leather do I need, what thread matches these irons?
So we built the calculators we wished we had, and wrote buying guides that treat you like an adult with a budget — pointing you at the few tools worth owning instead of padded starter kits.
How we make recommendations
Every gear pick maps to a plain-English category (a “fine pricking iron”, a “single veg-tan shoulder”) rather than chasing whichever brand pays most. We describe what a tool is for, who it suits, and where beginners get caught out. Specifications come from manufacturer listings and hands-on use, and we date every page so you can see how fresh it is.
What we do not do
- We do not publish fake ratings, invented review counts or made-up prices.
- We do not show live Amazon prices — click through for the current price instead.
- We do not make safety, medical or “food-safe” claims about leather or finishes.
Found an error? Tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it.
